Adults are prosecuted for “committing crimes” while juveniles are prosecuted for committing “delinquent acts.” If the delinquent acts are extremely serious, such as extreme crimes of violence such as murder, the court system may decide to charge the juvenile as an adult, in which case they would be tried in the adult crime system.

I do believe that punishments deter crime People know that if they break the law there will be consequences. If there want any kind of punishment, people would break laws all the time, because there would be nothing to stop them. 2. Do you think that alternative sanctions such as boot camps are positive or negative for society, individuals, and the criminal justice system? Why? I would say thet these alternative sanctions are negative to society, individuals and the criminal justice system. Boot camps won’t rehabilitate, just imprison. They remind me of work camps, like in the holocaust.
