money than we could have ever imagined. Someday I’ll send my sons to school, so they can learn some new skills and bring more money to the family. That’s right, I have sons! There are tons of things I would like to tell you about my family. My wife moved in with my family after we got married, and we now have two sons and three daughters. All of us live together, because it is better for the family as a whole. Mom helps to watch them while we work in the shop, and the kids help in the shop and field while mom is at the factory. Everyone brings in an income, and no money is wasted on childcare. I think this is a big reason why we have gotten so wealthy. It can get pretty lively with so many people in one house but having so many extra hands around the house is a really big help. We have talked about having another child, in the hopes that we get another boy who can stay and contribute to the family as they get older. But, if we get another daughter, that would mean a lot of food and money wasted on someone who leaves our family. We also have their dowry to consider. It is expensive to save up money and have it sent off. While the girls are allowed to save some of their earnings for the dowry, if they were sons, that would be more money that could go to the family. Plus, my sons’ future brides can bring their own dowry and that is even less money we must spend on someone who can hopefully produce grandsons. What about you? Are you married yet? Kids? Is America what you dreamed it would be? I am looking forward to your answer! All the best, Li Mingsheng

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
