2. Why do you think colic is difficult to diagnose correctly? What consequences would there be if the problem wasn’t diagnosed quickly and correctly? Colics are difficult to diagnose correctly because colic is classified as pain in the stomach . And there are various different types that can differ from mild to fatal. And if not treated within 30 minutes can potentially end a life of an animal if diagnosed wrongly. 3. What differences do you think there are for veterinarians in treating small animals versus the large mammals discussed in this lesson? Which area do you think would be most challenging? Large mammals are much more challenging to treat as they are bigger and harder to examine to pinpoint diseases. Veterinarians don’t have much equipment with them when treating them. Where as with small animals they often are brought to a medical center where everything is available to the vets if needed. Diseases are much more easily diagnosed.

4. Do you think that whole herds should be killed if diseases like mad cow disease are found in some animals in the herd? Why or why not? What considerations would go into this decision to eradicate a herd? If mad cow disease is found in some animals within a herd I do not believe that that whole herd should be killed.
