Transportation Management System (TMS) The need for transportation management systems is growing every day as e-commerce continues to grow. The continuous growth of e-commerce places an increasing amount of stress on shipping carriers as well as the routes themselves (Kwon, Kim, Lim, Chae, and Park, 2018). Shipping companies receive more orders than ever before every year. Transportation management systems can help companies to save money and time by deciphering big data about various routes. Transportation management systems monitor the status of roads, shipping lanes, air highways and railways all in real-time. By comparing the speed, cost, and functionality of these various shipping methods many companies are able to rely on multiple transportation systems to develop a more stable, highly cost-effective network. It is time that Mocan Mobile Maintenance incorporated a transportation management system into our business strategy to improve our competitive advantage against our maintenance counterparts all while cutting down on shipping costs. At Mocan Mobile Maintenance we use the regular shipping carriers such as Ups, FedEx, and Usps to ship parts to our repair locations. While Mocan Mobile Maintenance has a basic understanding of which carrier is better situationally we do not have any form of transportation management system beyond that. Mocan Mobile Maintenance has an opportunity to save on shipping costs with a company hired pilot delivering parts to mechanics on the job. The cost of plane operation works out to be within a profitable margin when the necessary part for the job is large and awkward In shape. Mocan Mobile Maintenance would usually rely on third-party transportation to send parts to the job site. By instead placing one of our own mechanics on pay role we would have much faster delivery of those goods when it is also cost-effective. We may

As a TMS is an advanced program, the system is able to manage big data that our company employees would take far longer to process manually (Turban et al., 2018, p. 278). Our employees would not need to sit at a desk for hours each morning looking at road closures, railway incidents, or any other transportation hiccups that lengthen the time of shipment. Instead; our employees would enter the destination data into the transportation management system and receive an accurate result in a fraction of the time. As Mocan Mobile Maintenance often uses multiple carriers to send its parts, the organization of this data is cumbersome. With a transportation management system, our logistics managers would be able to record such data in an efficient manner that allows us to check its status at a moment's notice no matter the carrier. Implementation of our own delivery pilot into the transportation management system would include a simple tracking and checkpoint process that would be carried out by our pilot.
