Shows opposite of RSS, people protesting RSS; Monday from government/party perspective through religious fundamentalism Effects of heads on populous, more of the majority of people in India felt (grassroots level) What was Taroot’s goal for promoting reggae? Revolutionary music, Why did he go to university? Trying to unite people, energize people against the repression of their culture What happened at JNU to make a focal point of freedom of expression? Students arrested and charged, catalyst for him Why was Taroot worried about playing reggae? Worried that reggae music was too elitist (English Elitism). Wanted to connect to most people in India How did he fix this? Brought in local rappers that rapped in Hindi Constitution day, what was contradictory about this? Wanted to be the only one’s rapping. Wanted freedom from Modi What’s right is right, what wrong is wrong. Behind the scenes they wanted to control narrative so they won’t be cracked down on because they’re being watched. In public, they started to talk about Modi, etc. If Taroo through his music is creating a safe space, then more people are likely to come to the protests What do you think the future of India is? Probably will stay the same because the majority agrees with Modi/RSS In US, how do we use art/music? Any form of expression (art, music, etc.) is inherently political

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
