The sheer volume of executions placed virtually everyone in the USSR into a state of fear (Medvedev, 1988). But the abuse did not just cover the USSR alone: the union was also setting aside a large chunk of income and resources for weaponry and missiles. Another topic that textbooks should emphasize is the Soviet Union’s investment in military power and their arsenal of weapons. Pampena 2 USSR is seeking out resources from other nations (Military spending, 1980). These nuclear attacks include air raids and underwater missiles to attack ships and land. Also, the mass of explosives detonated by the USSR was nearly two and a half times greater than the mass detonated by the USA (Military spending, 1980). The large quantity of nuclear weapons under the USSR’s control was also a contributing factor to the extreme imbalance during the 1979 election season in the USSR. A third factor that should be emphasized is the fact that the citizens of the USSR demanded change during the 1979 SCP leader election. Following the perilous wrath that was brought on by Stalin and Khrushchev, citizens were in dire need of peace and protection from government-sanctioned harm. But Staling and Khrushchev still were preferring reelection (Manning, 1960s). To initiate their fate, Leonid Brezhnev sorrowfully observed The Great Terror led by Stalin in the years leading up to the election. Based on the horrifying observations, he knew that democracy had to be reconstructed to bring peace and order back to the USSR. Not surprisingly, he won all but around one tenth of one percent of the votes during the 1979 election season (1979 Election Results). This is the reason why the results of the 1979 elections should be emphasized on history textbooks.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
