“In fact, in many cases stress isn't caused by a particular situation, but by the sense that you can'tescape your situation – your too-loud, too-hectic, too-frantic, responsibility-filled day. A walk is your chance to escape” (To Your Health). Walking also serves as a great stress reliever due to the science of our body. When we conduct physical activity, our body promotes the release of endorphins. Endorphins are vital hormones that reduce stress, relieve pain, and increase the sense of happiness and well-being. It is amazing how just a simple walk conducts so much work in your body to help reduce stress.Another valuable solution to help reduce stress, which I actually find to be the most difficult one, is to talk about it. “One of the things that makes stress so damaging is that we keep it to ourselves” (To Your Health). People often do not like to discuss what is stressing them out. However, talking it out is sometimes exactly what someone needs to do in order to reduce stress. What is also nice about talking out your stress is that you have numerous people you could talk to. Varying from your parents, partner, friend(s), co-worker, or counselor. However, make sure it is someone you tell who can be real and understanding with you because it is better to hear what you need to hear than hear what you want to hear. Honesty will be crucial to overcoming your stress. Which is why I usually talk about my stress to my parents because they are always straight up with me and understand me better than anyone else. Sometimes just expressing your stress out in the open is a great way to overcome it. The next solution to help overcome stress is to find the positives, which is the solution I use the most. Finding the positives basically mean “look on the bright side of the situation”. An example of finding the positive for a stressful situation would be doing a final homework assignment. The assignment is the biggest grade of the semester and it has very tedious

requirements for it, but on the bright side, it is the final assignment of the semester. I’ve actually gone through this scenario many times throughout my high school and college days. But finding the positives are very motivating and make you want to do well. The positives can help block your mind from stress. The final solution to reduce stress is to distract yourself. If you are not thinking about stressful things, then stress won’t be able to overpower you. Of course, that is easier said than done. Distracting yourself from a stressor can be very difficult, depending on the stressor. However, that does not mean you should not try to get your mind off it. There are thousands of things you can do to distract yourself from a stressor. It can be simple things like watching a movie, reading a book, or drawing a picture. Or more particular things like playing basketball, skateboarding, playing the drums, or playing video games. The things to do to distract yourself are infinite. I do plenty of things to distract myself from stressors. The activities I do most to
