Formative & SummativeThe outcome of my top hat organizer shows that formative assessments and summative assessments have more similarities than distinct differences. When I was able to list items side by side, I can see that both assessment types are used for the purpose of assessing students’ progress in class. And both assessment types have to be used in order to effectively assess the students. If a teacher just based their class result on summative, then they cannot be sure whetherthe students understand the material thoroughly or did they just studied the night before. In contrary, if a teacher only uses formative assessments, then how can they be sure that their students obtained the information throughout the lesson and is able to recall and apply in later onin other subjects.
