The United States government is also a Whole Foods stakeholder. The government hold high importance/low power status. High power because the government can enforce new legislation that can impact the continued operations and possible revenue. Government can also raise fees and other charges for operations and selling FDA approved products. The US government is of low importance because the government does not affect Whole Foods internal decision and structural changes. The government does not decide whether Whole Foods purchases additional competitors or reorganizes the internal set up of its stores. SWOT Strengths (internal): Under the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and threats model, Whole Foods’ weaknesses includes the following: provide a unique organic food niche product. Whole foods is not like your average grocery store. This market offers all organic/natural foods in one single location for reasonable prices. Continuous supplier item availability and continuous innovation to raise retail standards are two other organizational strengths practiced at Whole Foods. Suppliers are always eager to supply products to be sold and Whole Foods has a large pool of suppliers to choose from. Whole Foods continues to innovate and better current retail standards to stay competitive and gain a type of competitive advantage. The strong supplier network is another organizational strength. Each Whole Foods store is constructed uniquely to the preferences and appeal of the local community of where it’s built. This provide Whole Foods a strength advantage because no Whole Foods store is exactly the same and they carry different products that reflect local tastes

and preferences. Whole Foods is not only a place to shop for organic groceries but also a place to gather with friends, sample food, shop for other toiletries. This company strength has allowed Whole Foods to maintain supermarket status. The benefits of healthy eating are growing and are being recognized not only by those who consumer healthier foods but also has recently received scientific proof that healthy eating may help you live longer. This is attractive to those who are looking to switch toward a healthier eating lifestyle. This company strength allows these health conscious people to view Whole Foods as a type of Mecca where their healthy foods can be purchased. Excellent customer service is one of Whole Foods’ greatest assets. This organization is not only known for great organic food products but also for having some of the friendliest staff that works together in teams to accomplish tasks. Marketing strategies are not only important at Whole Foods, they are also know to be effective in this small niche type of organization.
