uses their best judgment and they also will consider their options while performing their various job duties. the state court mainly deals with those lesser criminals/state crimes. Those would include misdemeanours, traffic charges and juvenile charges. On the federal side of things most of the cases they see are based on the constitutional matters and federal crimes. Once a case is presented into the court, there are several ways it can go. It all starts with the crime that takes place; this is also known as the entry into the system. Next up would be the prosecution and the pretrial that consists of an investigation, the arrest, the charges and the preliminary hearing. It can take the path to either a misdemeanour level or a felony level. The accused can be let go if they are acquitted or can be dealt a guilty verdict and then entering the sentencing and corrections side of things.
The Corrections System On the state, local and federal level correction facilities can vary based on the offense that has taken place and depends on the sentence that is being passed down to the said offender. The state and federal prisons are those that house offenders that have committed a serious crime/felony and they require a sentence that is longer than one year. These prisoners would then go into the corresponding prison based upon if their crime was state or federal related.
