Clarity – Message was very clear the audience ii. Conciseness - This is the beauty of most if not all TED talks. Conciseness! They are simple and to the point. They are clear, understandable and purposefully relatable. iii. Arrangement - Her arrangement is in definite order. She has a simple introduction, a thesis, and gets right into what the bulk of her message is, that is the 4 pillars of meaning. c. Ethos: credibility, expectation, reference i. Credibility – She classified herself as an expert and referenced a book that she had published on the topic ii. Expectation – My expectation of her was to be professional, not to have much joking, and talk about some serious things to help me understand that there’s more to life than happiness. And she definitely met those expectations. iii. Reference – This can definitely be an opinionated topic of discussion, happiness in life, but she definitely uses some references or quotes of certain intellectual people to drive home her points. And she does so in the appropriate manner according to the audience to which she is speaking to. IV. Style a. Appeals (to emotions, logic, ethos)
I. Her message is appealing to the emotions of the audience, I believe. We are all human and I’m sure we’ve all thought at least a few times in our lives, what is true happiness and how do I obtain it? She is very logical
