Monsanto 8 problem on the quality of the crops. Biology was a very diverse field of inquiry but because of advance of technologies, we are seeing a narrowing down and a trimming off all those branches of biology just to the benefit of human. (Garcia, 2004). The ethics of what is happening in India is Ethic of Utilitarianism , people just think about how to produce the large amount of food to support for the huge amount of population in India; However, they do not care for the future of genes’ diversity, and it can lead to the destroy of genes. 6. Seeds of suicide is the term mentions about the fact of biotechnology industry in agriculture. We can understand that the biotechnology is also the terminator technology, and this technology is basically a suicide gene. After planting, the farmers cannot save the seeds because the seed is sterile. We will not have crops in the next season. 6A. “Corporations prevent seed savings through patents and by engineering seeds with non-renewable traits. As a result, poor peasants have to buy new seeds for every planting season and what was traditionally a free resource, available by putting aside a small portion of the crop, becomes a commodity. This new expense increases poverty and leads to indebtness. The shift from saved seed to corporate monopoly of the seed supply also represents a shift from biodiversity to monoculture in agriculture.” (Shiva). In addition, the second green revolution is mentioned about the relationship between farmer to food and from the food to the environment. Moreover, it is s change in agricultural production widely thought necessary to feed and sustain the growing population on Earth. (Steinhart, 1981) In order achieving the second green revolution, we have to focus on the farming sustainable and improve public health and environmental quality. 6B. The biotech companies are helping people in developing countries such as India, Brazil and Paraguay by providing a large amount of agricultural production for the huge population. 7. This is the Ethic of Care because we care how to produce and provide mass of products for the

Monsanto 9 large population. However, the issue that the biotech companies such as Monsanto can make billions of dollars in profits is an unethical issue . This thing can help companies make a lot of money but it will affect to the diversity of natural species and human health. 8. Ethic of Egoism is concerned again depending on the company’s profit. There is only thing opposed to GM/GE crops is the organic product which is produced in the local farm. By producing organic product, the farmers’ thought is based on the Ethic of Care and Ethic of Divine and Command . They care for the diversity in plants and consumer’s health and belong to their belief and religious, the commander or leader of their religious give them order to do that because diversifying natural system is one of their mission. We are all thinking about the future that somehow technologists are going to solve the food problems and all the human being on earth will be fine with those technologies. People on earth are the both sides that cause this problem and control this problem.
