Making up Missed Work due to an Excused Absence One (1) single absence will be excused if due to a documented reason described in the “Excused Absences” section. The missed work will need to be completed before attending the next lab session. If you miss a pre-lab , then you should obtain data from your group and complete the worksheet individually. If you miss a peer-review , your report will need to be reviewed by a member of the Writing Center. The Writing Center will send an email to your instructor indicating that your report was reviewed. Appointments at the Writing Center may be difficult to schedule, so plan ahead. If you miss preparing the investigation proposa l, you will need to complete the proposal independently and receive approval from your instructor. If you miss the investigation , then you should obtain data from your group and write the report.

CHEM 1151-FALL 2019 Page 3 of 7 Combined Excused and Unexcused Absences 4 or more : grade of F for course Evaluation Pre-Lab Worksheets (20 pts/each) and Proposals (10 pts/each) are assignments that student groups work on together and submit one per group. At the discretion of the instructors, a draft of proposals may be required from each student prior to the final proposal submitted by the group. Investigation Quizzes (10 pts/each): Quizzes are made available on Blackboard and are to be completed INDIVIDUALLY. Each quiz is turned-in at the beginning of the corresponding “Investigation” lab session. Failure to submit the completed quiz will result in a grade of zero. Written Arguments (30 pts/each) will be submitted for two (2) investigations. Each group’s written arguments must include a claim, evidence, and justification. Written arguments are due at the conclusion of the corresponding lab session. Individual Laboratory Reports (60 pts/each) will be submitted for three (3) investigations. Draft reports are due for peer review the lab session after lab investigation. Following the peer review you are expected to revise your lab report and address the reviewers’ comments. Originality The final version of the lab report must be submitted to SafeAssign on Blackboard. SafeAssign assesses the originality of reports and provides an overall matching percent to existing papers. Overall matching percentage indicates the percent probability the paper contains plagiarized content. The following matching percentage criteria will be used to score the final version of lab reports. Below 40% Paper will be scored without penalty for plagiarism Between 40% and 65% A deduction of 1 point per each percent deviation from 40% will be applied. Above 65% A score of zero will be assigned for the paper and an Academic Integrity Violation report may be submitted to the Office of Students Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR).
