1. Review the key to pollination and describe the characteristics of flowers that are adapted for pollination by each of the following agents:
2. Discuss other ways in which keys are used in biology.
1. What part of the life cycle is represented by the mature pollen grain?
2. How does the female gametophyte in angiosperms differ from the female gametophyte in gymnosperms?
3. Do you think that all pollen germinates on all stigmas? How might pollen germination and growth be controlled?
Melinda Chery July 6, 2014 Prof.Asumda BSC2011L 11:40am-4:10pm I believe they do germinate on the stigmas. Although pollens of many species germinate in simple aqueous media, stigmas do not provide satisfactory sites for the germination of most foreign pollen. Stigmas not only provide the proper conditions for the germination of pollen from their particular species, they actively inhibit the germination of pollen of many unrelated species. Lab D 1. How might dry fruits be dispersed? Fleshy fruits?
2. Describe the characteristics of an achene, drupe, and berry.
