significant and fair when they listen, speak, read and write (Heaslip 2008). There are many policies and procedures that should be followed always but there will be times that those methods aren’t going to work for the situation at hand. Having in depth knowledge of all aspects of the respiratory field will help when it comes to critical thinking. Home care respiratory therapists have different daily routines than those who work in the hospital. They are working independently one on one with patients and family to provide health services in the comfort of the patient’s home. There are many different skills that a respiratory therapist must have to properly care for and treat their patients. Being able to properly assess the patient, good teaching skills, good communication, and critical thinking are just some of the skills that are important to have as a home care respiratory therapist.
