agriculture, electronics and environmental remediation (Pillai, Bezbaruah & Achintya, 2017). - Nanomedicine is already expanding the medical tools and knowledge currently avalibale and draws on the natural scale of biological research to generate solutions for disease prevention (Besley, Kramer, & Priest, 2008). - Nanotechnology can improve the environmental conditions that affect individuals by meeting the need for affordable and clean drinking water. Paragraph 2 – Risks of nanotechnology - Although nanotechnology presents an opportunity for our society to grow, it also presents an unprecedented challenge such as the potential for human and environmental exposure. (Marchant, Sylvester & Abbott, 2008). - Concerns about the safety of engineered nanomaterials have led to several regulatory challenges. - Workers who are involved with nanotechnological research and manufacturing process are highly at risk of being exposed to nano-pollutants which are small particles that have the ability to be absorbed into the skin and penetrate the lungs (Larsson, Jansson, & Boholm, 2019). Paragraph 3 – Regulation of nanotechnology - As our society strives to use nanotechnology to improve human life through better application of healthcare and cleaner environment, scientists and risk management facilities must also work to detect and assess the negative impacts that nanotechnology might bring (Romig, 2004). - There has been an ongoing debate on how nanotechnology should be regulated in order for the outcomes to be harmless. - An important factor to determine the support for regulation among experts is whether regulations are used to advance the nanotechnological research or hinger the scientific progress (Larsson, Jansson, & Boholm, 2019).
