I say so because of the utilitarianism in mind, the greatest happiness for all should be of priority. In other words the more good that outweighs the bad is to be the best answer in such situations. In this case the children will benefit at large and we maintain a healthy population taking care of our future leaders. It is disheartening to say the least , especially when the cost of treating them are too low maybe we should change the FRAME in which we view this matter , rather than looking at them as a cost to our society we should rather look at them as an investment to our future after all when I take my son to a doctor or best schools in the country am motivated by the fact that my son will one day have a better future than the one I had , surely everyone deserves the same kind of treatment that I give my child. How I feel about the option E? I feel like I’m already solving the problem, by advocating for these children. They don’t deserve to die from treatable diseases, one should not be worried of the cost at the expense of others lives. Option (E) is the one I chose in assignment 1 because that’s the moral thing to be done. Is this correct option? Doing the best for others as an Altruism, I like to see others wellbeing well progressing and in this case I’m much concerned of these children who are dying of treatable disease. Therefore I say my option is the correct one because no one deserves to die. List of reference used Bentham J, 1789 (1948), an introduction to the principles of morals and legislation Oxford: Basil Blackwell. It’s hard to say it, but this just means less people competing with me for scarce opportunities and resources. This is most likely the option as it’s putting ones needs for scarce resources before others and there is no concern or feeling towards the children (No

altruism). Egoism is a form of consequentialism and it is all about one’s self interest or should be motivation and goal of one’s own action. Explain why you think this is the case? In this case the egoist’ actions is rational egoism because it is all about maximizing my self-interest towards scarce opportunities and resources without caring about the lives of 20 000 children who are dying every day prematurely from poverty and treatable diseases. Ayn Rand, she spoke about rational egoism according to her, rational to be rendered, objective moral code should base on three central virtues of rationality, productiveness and pride and can be done through, sustaining life, and one’s own life in particular, is the original objective standards of value. And in this case, the idea that being selfish is just plain sensible means putting the interests of other before your own.
