Dana begs Rufus to reconsider and he hits her. She disobeys his order to get back to the house and instead goes to the attic and slits her wrists. Dana passed out and woke up back at home in 1976. She noticed Kevin and told him what Carrie said about the slaves being sold if Rufus were to die. Kevin asks Dana to make a decision. He wanted her to kill Rufus. She was back for 15 days and they were very happy until Kevin accused her of wanting to go back to Maryland and asks if Rufus raped her. Dana says that she was worried if she let Rufus die she would not be able to get back. On the 4 th of july Dana returns to the plantation and discovers that she was only gone for three months so Rufus didn’t really age. He leads her to the barn where Alice hung herself. Rufus told her that Alice commited suicide. Dana catches Rufus with a holdgun and wonders if she was sent back to prevent him from dying. Rufus told her that he didn’t sell their children he just sent them to their aunt in Baltimore in order to scare Alice and make her stay. Dana blames Rufus for her death and says that the least he can do is free hagar and joe. The day after Alice’s funeral, Rufus takes Dana to town so she could witness him freeing his sons who now called him daddy instead of master. Dana says that Rufus should free all his slaves but he was scared she would kill him if he did. He says he has nightmares about her leaving him alone and says he sold Sam because he wanted her. This scares Dana and Rufus grabs her and tells her she looks so much like Alice. She hurries back to the attick to grab her knife and Rufus apologizes for the first time. He lies with his arm around her and for a few seconds Dana doesn’t think it would be too bad to sleep with him. She then stabs him twice and nigel comes in. She time travels back home at that moment. As soon a Dana is Well, kevin and her travel to Maryland in the current time. They find newspapers describing the sale of the weylin plantation including all the slaves after Rufu’s death in the fire. Nigel set the fire to cover up his death. There was no record of what happened to joe and Hagar but Dana knew Hagar somehow liveed long enough to be free. She didn’t find any record of Nigel and Carrie’s sale.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
