Several articles mention that there is a naïveté involved in the characters that so easily fall prey to the Barnum effect. Many were unsure how best to narrow or eliminate the effect. To my understanding, it is suggested by one particular study that to avoid this effect should sidestep the simple traditional feedback rating especially for traits of acceptance. Adding in additional components to address the whole personality as opposed to breaking it down (Poskus, 2014, pp. 103-104). To be honest I not entirely sure I got it right.
