RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS
Data Presentation
Twelve (60%) out of the 20 respondents revealed that the more common wounds
that they treat with
malunggay
leaves extract are cuts. This is followed by five
respondents (25%) who have tried treating bruises with
malunggay
extract. While the
remaining 15% or 3 respondents use the extract to treat scrapes. Table 1 shows the
distribution of these data.

In the treatment of minor wounds, the respondents were divided into two types:
those who use ointments bought in drug stores and those who use
malung
gay leaves
extract. Majority of the respondents (80%) or 16 of them use
malunggay
extract which is

abundantly available in the locality. The other 4 (20%) use ointments bought from the
drug stores. These are revealed in the table below.

Table 3 shows the reasons why majority of the respondents prefer using
malunggay
leaves extract over commercial medicines or ointments bought in drug stores.
Fifteen (15) or 75% of the respondents unanimously answered that natural
remedies are better and safer than artificial or clinically-prepared medicines/ointments.

Moreover, this majority believe that
malunggay
extract is more effective in treating
minor wounds than commercial medicines. Besides, they claim that commercial
medicines are expensive.

Relatively, the same number of respondents revealed the following perceptions on
the effects of using
malunggay
extract in treating minor wounds that they have
experienced.
Majority or 75% of them have observed the following manifestations after
using the extract: 1. Bleeding stops immediately; 2.The wound does not swell; 3.There is
no pain on the wound; 4.Open wounds close and heal easily; 5. There are no infections or
complications.
