A struggle between two opposing forces. Ex: The Capulets vs. the Montagues

personality traits contrast sharply w/ traits of another character
flat character
a simple, shallow, "one-dimensional" or "stereotypical" role
acts

monologue
an extended speech by a character, which is uninterrupted
Dramatic Irony
The difference between what a character knows and what the audience knows
Symbol
The use of props, set, costume, lighting and colour to create a recognisable meaning.

events that LEAD TO THE RESOLUTION
dialogue
lines or words that the different characters say (2 or more characters)
Soliloquy
A speech a character gives when the character is alone. Purpose: Let the audience knows the character's thoughts. Ex: Juliet speaking of her love for Romeo during the balcony scene.

characters who DO NOT HAVE KEY ROLES

tells a story using only dialouge and action

Plot
What the action leads up to. Sequence of events/what happens
Irony
When the outcome of something is the opposite of what is expected.

specific form of literature such as a poem or novel

a kind of literature written to be performed by actors. The plot and characters are developed through dialogue and action.

a true account of a person's life told by someone else
