several layers of keratinocytes/At thickest layer undergoing mitosis
Stratum Granulosum
3-5 layers of keratinocytes. keratinocytes contain dark stained keratinohyalin granules.
Stratum Lucidum
thin zone above stratum granulosum. cells don't have nuclei. only seen in thick skin.
Stratum corneum
up to 30 layers of dead, scaly, keratinized cells. resists abrasion, penetration & H2O loss.
Erythema
abnormal redness of skin. due to exercise, sunburn. Due to increased blood vessel flow or dermal pooling of red blood cells.
Pallor
pale color. Due to low blood pressure, anemia, circulatory shock
Abinism
lack of melanin.
Jaundice
yellowing of skin/whites of eyes. Due to bilirubin in blood.
hematoma
