"If You Forget Me" is told from the first-person perspective of a speaker who is addressing his beloved. He proposes some conditions that may result in his partner forgetting him and indicates that if this should happen, he would equally forget her.
"If You Forget Me" is written in the present tense. The speaker proposes some hypothetical situations that may result in his beloved forgetting him and the consequences that would follow.
