Officer The police officer appears at the last minute on official business from the king. Arriving with Tartuffe, he surprises the con man by arresting him instead of Orgon. While this is bad news for Tartuffe, it's a life-saver for Orgon and his family.
Valère Valère is Mariane's fiancé and tries to make the best of Orgon's decision that she should marry Tartuffe.
