Perspective and Narrator

Each chapter uses the third-person limited omniscient point of view and focuses on the perspective of a primary character.

The timeline is nonlinear and tends to jump around in time and setting. As a result each chapter begins in the present tense, then describes memories or flashbacks that are written in the past tense, followed by a shift back to the present tense as the memory becomes more real to the narrator.

About the Title

The title alludes to the various feminist manifestos published in the past century and explores what it means to be a female, as well as the dynamics of female relationships. It probes the turbulent nature of how women identify as female, how women influence or persuade other women of that identity, and how society impacts the view of what is female.
