The Jungle Book | Character Analysis

Mowgli, a fearless boy who escaped being eaten by Shere Khan the tiger, is allowed to grow up with a wolf pack. He learns to communicate with nearly any animal in the jungle and eventually lures Shere Khan to his death.

Bagheera is a black panther who is extremely knowledgeable about the Law of the Jungle and is able to influence the wolf pack. He buys Mowgli's way into the pack with the price of a bull. As Mowgli grows up, Bagheera continues to stand up for Mowgli, and he is patient enough to teach Mowgli how to survive in the jungle.

Baloo the bear helps to raise Mowgli. He is in charge of teaching all wolf cubs the Law of the Jungle and languages of all the animals. Baloo speaks up for Mowgli at the first Council Rock meeting when the pack is deciding whether Mowgli should stay or be cast out.

Shere Khan

Shere Khan is a tiger who tries to convince the wolf pack to let him eat Mowgli but ends up being killed by Mowgli instead.
