Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would strongly recommend this course to students. I say this because this course is very important. I think everyone should the basic concepts and function of the world around us. In addition, Dr.Tyesha Burks makes this class very interesting though professor and class discussions. Lastly, she teaches in a way the people from all learning styles can benefit and she teaches in order for you to retain the information and not memorize it for an exam.

    Course highlights:

One highlight of this course was one class period when we were learning about the animal and plant cell. Dr. Burks assigned for all students to create a cell analogy. This allowed for students to correlate the organelles and structure within a cell to something that they could relate or understood. Through this, I learned a method of retaining information and connecting it to everyday life.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I strongly recommend that students study and go to the professor's office hours. Not only does it give you one on one time with the teacher, it also allows the teacher to know that you are serious about this class and your grade. This can result in you getting a better grade and develop a connection and relationship with your professor. Lastly, don't be afraid to make mistakes. In this course, there is room for many mistakes. However, you should always learn from getting things incorrect.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this class because the professor makes the hardest topics in biology easy to understand. It take a lot of patience for a professor to expound on a topic until the entire class understands it.

    Course highlights:

This highlights of this class so far include the lecture and the lab. Everything that is done in the class is interactive. We are given the ability to apply what we learn to real life situations. For Example, the reason why water and oil do not mix is because oil is hydrophobic. It does not like water. Prior to taking this class, I did not know the scientific term for that process.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

In order for you to succeed in this course you need to engage in the class discussion, take notes, and ask questions if you do not understand. Lastly, it is important to go over the notes that you take in class at home so that you will be able to retain the information.
