    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

For being a very in-depth course, this teacher doesn't find time to present all the needed information for the tests. I never feel prepared for when the exams come around. She doesn't put information up on the board and talks fast, only saying things once so if you don't get it the first time around, you won't ever. I will admit however, that for the select few subjects she is passionate about, she will go into full detail about. She skips around during the lectures a lot, but is very confusing, not specifying exactly what she talking about.

    Course highlights:

The lab, however, is very hands on and mostly independent. You are given a handbook and are taught the needed skills for the class within the first month. A major part of this class is identifying two unknown specimens for lab reports. I felt well prepared when these specimens came around, from the large amount of practice we had in the beginning of the class.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

A piece of advice I would give to someone considering this course is to not take any difficult courses along with it. You are going to need to spend most of your free time studying. I was lucky enough to have not yet sold my BIO 110 book back to college book store yet. A lot of information from the class could be found in the BIO 110 book, but not in the microbiology book. I would recommend holding onto your book while in the class for a second reference.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend taking BIOL230 with Dr Laing. She is so smart and makes sure the entire class understands what she is teaching before moving onto the next topic. She records all of her lectures and puts them on Blackboard incase you need to go back and review something.

    Course highlights:

I learned a ton in this class. Going into nursing, all of the information I learned about infections and antibiotics was super helpful. I want to say 95 if not 100% of the students in the class are going into the healthcare field so she really directs the course information that way.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to Supplemental Information! Henry taught it when I took the class. He is so smart and does an amazing job bringing all of the information together so you see the big picture instead of focusing on all of the smaller topics.
