Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

before taking this class, I had no idea about bacteria. I didn't know what aseptic or septic meant. I had no clue what spores were and I couldn't use a microscope before taking this class. There is a dress code for this class, you must wear closed toe shoes and your hair up at all times.

    Course highlights:

Learning to use a microscope, making fires with the bunsen burner. Looking at different bacteria. There was never a dull day in this class. There was this one big project where we had to grow bacteria and find out which one was growing. Before I got in this class I was so intimidated because everyone told me how hard it was going to be. Don't listen to the negativity, if you study and read before class, it will be a piece of cake.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would tell students to read before class, watch the videos a few times of the procedures before going to lab and to have a good time in class. You will learn a lot.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I had a ton of fun growing bacteria and there is a great deal of hands on activity!! I felt like a true microbiologist.

    Course highlights:

The "Unknown Project" was a major highlight for me. I learned the steps to determining an unknown bacteria if I was ever presented with such a predicament.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Take lots of pictures. If you have Snapchat utilize it to take pictures so that you can label everything there on the screen. If you do not have Snapchat I suggest you get one, it is very helpful in labs. Review the material everyday.
