Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course for anyone who wants to learn about theatre in a fun and interesting way. The professor is friendly and helpful. She also makes understanding the material easy. While going into the course with background knowledge of theatre can be helpful, it is not necessary to pass. I went into this course with very little knowledge of the subject and left with an A. I learned to love and appreciate the art of theatre because of this class and had a great time along the way. The classroom environment was very welcoming .

    Course highlights:

Some of the highlights of this course was that the lectures were never boring. The professor made sure everyone understood the class lessons and was putting in effort in their work. Overall, she wanted you to leave with a new understanding of theatre and learn to appreciate it. In class we learned about the different roles and their responsibilities they play in theatre such as the director, stage manager, the producer, costume designers, dramaturg and more. We also learned about Ancient Greek Theatre and the different stage types. To have a better understanding of the roles, we had a group assignment which was to put on a showcase for the class. each groupmember chose their own role, director, actors, dramturg, costume designer, and others. The director chose the play for a ten minute showcase and everyone worked as a team. It was a great experience which helped understand the roles of the theatre crew.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise students to get the textbook to read the chapters. Also i would advise students to come in with an open mind to theatre appreciation, even if this course was just a requirement for you. I gained so much interesting facts about theatre that I wouldn't have known without taking this course.
