    | Would highly recommend.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this class for any individual who is a music lover or who has a desire to learn about music's humble beginnings! Today's music whether it is rap, blues, rock, or classical had it's ancestry tracing back years or even centuries ago with genres influencing other genres and so on and so forth! You will learn how the early genres of music influenced the music you listen to today!

    Course highlights:

As a music lover myself, it is really difficult to pick out the highlights of this course since every chapter and material we covered in class gave me new insights and information I did not know prior about music and the instruments. But if I had to choose, it was when our professor showed us music clips on YouTube with a specific instrument being performed by a virtuoso performer so that we could hear and see the instrument being played to it's fullest potential. What I learned in this class were instruments I had never before, like for example, a nose flute or the rain drum. I learned how the earliest genres of music influenced other genres years later. More importantly, I learned how music brings together people regardless of their differences in life. Music has the power to invoke any mood and memories in every person in this world! I learned why music and it's contribution to life helped shaped the world today!

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

You will need to have an open mind when it comes to all genres of music. Even if you are not a fan of a particular genre, it is still important to recognize it's importance in the music world and how it shapes genres years later. You will need to devote a lot of time in the library to research information regarding any assignment or homework you will be given. The library at Broward College has numerous sources of music information with dictionaries, CDs, books, etc. Utilize all available sources help you succeed in this class!
