Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This professor was amazing and went in depth with confusing topics, breaking it down with several examples and even worksheets. For exams, he gave topics that would be covered, and even went so far as to give us some of the types of questions he would ask. When he assigned a project, he let you choose your own topic from a long list so that you would actually enjoy what you were presenting on. He highly recommends studying in groups with peers, which actually helps for exams! I studied alone for my first exam and got an acceptable score, but for the remaining exams I studied with a small group of peers and did much better than before. This professor is one who comes up with anecdotes and tells real stories that connect to what we were learning.

    Course highlights:

For me, the highlights were the professor's sense of humor and the fact that he could integrate real-life situations to his lessons. When assigning a project, he'd explain everything you'd need to do and would have an inquiry session after his explanations. He was a very fair grader and gave good extra credit assignments. I learned about the differences between meiosis and mitosis, as well as how cells work and taxonomic ranking.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the chapters, review the notes the professor posts online for you, and study both alone and in groups. Before coming to class, print the notes he posts, and add additional notes during class time when he covers the information and ask lots of questions!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Professor Marin is the type of professor that applies the theories and concepts of biology to the real world. It helps you connect with the information.

    Course highlights:

Perspective and discipline. I can say that i learned each concept with a new sense of perspective. Not only do you gain new insight on the information but it is up to you to come to class prepared. In the real world it is our responsibility to adapt to situations. this class teaches you to do just that.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Dont just put in the hours, make those hours productive. Anyone can read from a book and still not understand the info. Try reading the same theory but in different locations and use flashcards. Knowing the vocab is half the battle.
