    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The course was hard. Most of the homework was through excel and the book that was used for the class didn't help as far explaining the material. The examples in the books didn't show the steps to get to the answer.

    Course highlights:

An in-depth exploration and application of valuation models to support managerial decision making in a strategic framework. The theory, concepts, and principles underlying the valuation of firms, business/product lines, and mergers and acquisitions are addressed using extended exercises and applications. The discounted cash flow model is used as a tool. Discussion covers the financial drivers of value, including assessing and determining risk, competitive advantage period, and sales and earnings growth estimates. Other valuation techniques using earnings, revenues, and price/earnings multiples are also discussed and applied in selected examples.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would say to master excel, the equations. Research more than just the book and lecture notes when it comes to understanding the material.

    Course highlights:

This class is a requirement and helps you understand the investments of companies and why they may choose the options that they do. The class consists of homework, discussions and a project.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

You have to read, stay on top of your assignments and ask questions if you don't understand. Professor Nichols is the best at helping you understand.
