    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend it because you have no options but to take it!

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot from taking this course. Its split up with Dr. E teaching the beginning and the end, and another professor (Dr. B for my semester) teaching the middle. Dr. Bieberich's exams were extremely difficult because its the molecular side of genetics and the exams cover a lot of material. He reads off of the books ready made powerpoints so it can be difficult to understand from just the lectures. Dr. Eisenmann is a little more enthusiastic and he teaches with plenty of examples to help you better understand the material. You have to work extremely, extremely hard to do well in this course. They curve almost an entire letter grade. Get a friend and be prepared! its not impossible but like any STEM course at UMBC its challenging.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Make friends! Study together! Attend SI sessions and don't give up!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The beeakdown of concepts by the professors, the posting or audio recordings and lecture slides with blank slides to help students follow lectures. The provision of exam study guides by the professors and exam review sessions and moreover the availability of oractice exams to help studying

    Course highlights:

I gained a deep insight into the world of genetics. There was a lot i was utterly unaware of and this course gave me the opportunity to grasp a whole lot of knowledge pertaining to genetics as a whole and genetically modified organisms in particular

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Be timely. Read chapters before class and revisit after lectures. I will advice students to print out the lecture slides and fill in the blank spaces as lecture proceeds rather than focusing on taking notes entirely. Do the practice exams and pag special attention to clicker questions and problems solved or brought up in discussion. Basically understand the concepts and the like rather than just memorizing as the course requires a lot of critical thinking
