Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it allows you to connect your real life experience with readings in the Bible and by Western Philosophers. Furthermore, Professor Antus is great at helping you understand where Catholic believes stem from and how they affect people in vulnerable positions in their lives.

    Course highlights:

I learned about the authorship of the Bible, the implications of the Bible on the lives of disabled and marginalized people, and morality as defined by Aristotle and Plato.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

As long as you actively participate in class your grade will be good and you will understand the material. Additionally, make sure you take notes on what she says and what she looks for in papers because the weekly papers are a big part of how she grades.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Weiss is an absolute diamond in the rough at Boston College. His approach is unbelievably thoughtful and passionate. Theology and philosophy material became interesting and approachable to me, though I'd never been quite intrigued by either course of study prior to taking PULSE with Fr. Weiss.

    Course highlights:

The professor! My placement supervisor was terrible, which tainted my overall experience with PULSE, but knowing this, Fr. Weiss was extremely understanding and supportive. I had to work really hard to absorb the material in this class, but as a result, I learned more. The readings were generally interesting and the exams & papers were pretty easy if you did the work during the semester.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

The TA wasn't great. Class discussion could be stressful if you're not 150% confident like me. Definitely do the readings - you won't get away with it during class if you don't. Don't text in class or you'll get called out in front of everyone!

    Course Overview:

IF you can take PULSE with Troxell-- do it!!

    Course highlights:

This class was absolutely amazing... that does not mean it was easy--at times there was A LOT of reading, but it was manageable and the professor is very understanding. She does an excellent job of integrating the readings with discussions about your placements!

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to office hours and seek help with any papers--she is very helpful and understanding.
