Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Weiss is an absolute diamond in the rough at Boston College. His approach is unbelievably thoughtful and passionate. Theology and philosophy material became interesting and approachable to me, though I'd never been quite intrigued by either course of study prior to taking PULSE with Fr. Weiss.

    Course highlights:

The professor! My placement supervisor was terrible, which tainted my overall experience with PULSE, but knowing this, Fr. Weiss was extremely understanding and supportive. I had to work really hard to absorb the material in this class, but as a result, I learned more. The readings were generally interesting and the exams & papers were pretty easy if you did the work during the semester.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

The TA wasn't great. Class discussion could be stressful if you're not 150% confident like me. Definitely do the readings - you won't get away with it during class if you don't. Don't text in class or you'll get called out in front of everyone!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

IF you can take PULSE with Troxell-- do it!!

    Course highlights:

This class was absolutely amazing... that does not mean it was easy--at times there was A LOT of reading, but it was manageable and the professor is very understanding. She does an excellent job of integrating the readings with discussions about your placements!

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to office hours and seek help with any papers--she is very helpful and understanding.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Professor Weiss brings a wealth of knowledge to PULSE that you won't find elsewhere. He is truly an under-the-radar superstar and wants all the best things for his students. He takes the curriculum, as well as class discussion, and final papers very seriously, but his grading is very fair and you get what you work for.

    Course highlights:

My volunteer placement was very poorly run and Professor Weiss did all he could to support me in my quest to find meaning there. The material we studied was mostly interesting and allowed me to see the academic side of theology as a non-religious person.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't take out your phone in class, participate, and do the reading. He will call on you if you appear to have not done the work before coming to class!
