    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I was a TA for this class, which is simple proof that I loved it enough to have a second and third iteration of it through teaching it myself! Melissa is one of the best professors I've ever had- she pushes you to not only learn content but to determine how to apply it to specific topics and situations so that you can learn how to utilize the knowledge and concepts in the grand scheme of things. You get to see what's happening in biology and make it happen in the lab, which makes it come alive and make more sense. You get into the nitty gritty of things, which helps you to remember and be able to explain (through lab reports and collaboration with classmates) bigger concepts more accurately.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to apply concepts and fundamentals of biology (and even chemistry!) to critical thinking, problem solving, and creative thinking in many different parts of biology. I learned the basics of biology and grew to understand the laboratory purposes and methodology in a significant way.

    Advice for students:

Go to office hours, even if you think you get it! Work with other students. Do practice tests. Anticipate questions she could ask. Make study guides.
