    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class is very harsh if you don't pay attention to details. There are plenty of opportunities for small mistakes that can drop your grade a lot. Don't take the online version because the lectures aren't thorough enough and it can be tough to get help. In addition, you will miss out on the group quizzes in class where you can learn from other students.

    Course highlights:

You will get really good at finding the forces in determinate statics problems. Even if you struggle with the more complicated concepts, you will have the basics down.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't wait till the last minute to start the homework, and make sure you can keep details like signs and labels straight.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Do NOT take this class if you are not required to! Very difficult and you MUST put in a lot of work if you want to pass.

    Course highlights:

You don't learn much in this class besides basic mechanics, but the class is structured poorly and the material is difficult.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Go to the help room REGULARLY.

    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this course. It's required for mechanical engineering students, but for electrical and computer it's one of our engineering breadth requirements. It was a moderately challenging course that teaches a lot while still also being a fairly easy class. I think the material helped me see the world in a different way.

    Course highlights:

At the end of the class you will understand the how to do handle objects in equilibrium and also how to calculate the internal forces in the objects. You will also learn about water pressure and how t calculate the distributed loads caused by it.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the homework and study for the exams. The exams aren't too hard, but dumb mistakes can cost you a lot of points. I got a B in the class because I forgot how to handle a particular problem on an exam and lost 20 points out of 60. The exam review sessions are terribly helpful, but I would still recommend attending the one by the teachers before an exam.
