    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

For most students, this course is a requirement, thus it is one of the largest classes the school offers. Personally, I am not very interested in chemistry as a whole but only certain parts of it. I think the class is not super difficult if you have some background in the subject from high school or previous sources.

    Course highlights:

Some of the highlights of the course I felt were some of the lab experiments, but even then that depends on your TA that runs the lab. If he or she is not very engaged, lab could be a drag. The lecture material was not usually very interesting to me, but I did learn some basic chemistry principles.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would recommend that students taking the course make sure to attend every lecture, although it is tempting to ditch every now and then, it will make the class increasingly difficult. If you are having struggles although, I highly recommend attending the supplemental instruction offered by students who have previously taken the course. They also attend each lecture and help students that are struggling and offer very helpful exercises to help students.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course is a great way to learn the basics of chemistry. In high school chemistry was not a subject that I did well in. After taking this course with Dr. Harwood I was much more comfortable with the information. She was great at explaining the information and gave me a good background for the more difficult chemistry classes that I am taking.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of the course was that it moved at a good pace. If you have not taken chemistry before it will take a little more work, but all the TA's are willing to help. For people who did well in high school AP chemistry the class was a nice review.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

It is great if you need more chemistry background. I'm glad I took this course it helped clarify are learn chemistry basics. If you can this class is a great way to prepare you for the more advanced courses.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

This is a great course given by a great instructor. Professor Harwood explains things very well in class and gives homework assignments to help students better understand the objectives covered in class.

    Course highlights:

Even though the labs for this class were long and late for me, I really enjoyed them. This class really gave an idea of everything that chemistry deals with. I took AP Chem 1 and 2 in high school, and this class went over what I had already learned, but it showed me different and easier ways of solving the same problems.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would tell them to do all of the homework and LearnSmart assignments because they really help you understand everything and to really try to understand it as you're doing it rather than just trying to get the points. Most importantly, pay attention and go to class because you can miss a lot in one day.
