Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

It gives a new perspective on writing. It teaches you why certain texts are written a certain way and how you can change your own writing style to make a essay more interesting. It doesn't change your overall style of writing for everything you write, but it gives you the ability to use many different styles for a given assignment.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course for me was the 3-4 papers we had to write. Each paper was different than the previous one in a few ways. Each paper we wrote, we had to do background research in different ways to back up claims we had. One paper was on a book we read, so we had to reference the book throughout the paper. On another one, we were given two articles about concussions in football. Our assignment was to tell our opinion on what the NFL should do regarding this issue and back up our claims using the two articles. And the final paper was a free range paper on a topic of our choice. We had to write our opinions on a general topic and inform the reader about what we have researched. We had to find online primary sources and look in books to back our what we believed. This class taught me how to use all my resources available to me in order to make the clearest and most engaging essay I could.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Advice I would give to students considering this course is pay attention and put forward the work. By actually listening to what the professor was telling me, and doing the work assigned, I gained an appreciation for writing that I wouldn't have had otherwise. The research is a lot of work to back up claims in paper, but once the facts are found, thats when the writing gets fun.
