    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

organic chemistry is a required course for anyone on the premed track, who wants to go to medical school. i recommend this course because it requires a great amount of critical thinking skills, and it causes you to think outside of the box. the way we assume a problem to be solved is not always the most efficient way.

    Course highlights:

i learned about reactions. i learned about life. Everything we use on this planet is in organic chemistry.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

study hard, but smart. highlight the most important thing the professor mentions in class. With all that being said, go to class! Reading the textbook is not enough because the professor can add more information to what you already have in the textbook.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It is a requirement for most science students and helps a lot with basic chemical understandings that you may need to use later on in other science courses.

    Course highlights:

My favorite part of this course was learning abut hybridization. I learnt about how electrons filled in atomic shells and why they would fill the shells the way they did!!

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

STUDY! STUDY! STUDY! Pay attention in class and DON'T BE SCARED TO ASK QUESTIONS. If you need a tutor , do not hesitate and get one ASAP.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I'd suggest taking this course w/ prof. Davis if biochemistry or chemistry is not your major. The class for non-chem majors was good and the exams were fair. The exams for chem majors were exponentially harder even if he would teach the same material. To be honest though, for me prof. Davis was a good lecturer and is always open to explaining material that is confusing. He does rush towards the end of the semester though due to poor allocation of time. But he does have plenty of office hours.

    Course highlights:

Learned a lot of mechanisms but not enough about synthesis or NMR spec.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Redo past exams since prof. Davis often posts it online- very useful and good stuff to review
