Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Moves at a steady pace so that students new to programming can keep up. The material is explained thoroughly and repeatedly. Labs are helpful and projects are helpful in learning the java language.

    Course highlights:

A solid foundation of java is built. It is a great introduction to the structure of programming languages. The application of this language is endless and the projects helped show that. However, they make take 3x as much time as one might think, so the danger of procrastination is learning as well as a strong work ethic to get a program ready.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Start projects early and actually listen to the professor. One can glean a lot from examples. During lab, corporate with others in order to learn different techniques to make you program run faster. If you enjoy solving problems and love the euphoric feeling afterward, take this course.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Pedram is a good professor, engaging and keeping the discussion largely on topic. A little goofy, but a good fellow. The TA's are very helpful as well.

    Course highlights:

My logic skills improved greatly from this, as well as my critical thinking. The projects forced me to begin my work early and see it through.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Start the projects ASAP. You will absolutely be glad you did. And as easy as it may be, don't just sit on reddit in class.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course because I learned so much from it, but it was difficult taking it with no prior experience in programming.

    Course highlights:

I learned about many basic concepts in Java, and we did seven projects to practice these.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Just break down everything into small steps, both on projects and on tests.
