    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

    I highly recommend this class especially if you're a communication disorders major. Its really helpful to take it at the same time as phonetics.

    Course highlights:

    I learned a lot about different approaches and theories to language. I had no idea you could even in depth study language.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

    Definitely study. He sometimes gives surprise quizzes so make sure to keep up on readings.

    This course teaches about the field of linguistics. It provides a great deal of information and overview of the field, while also being an engaging and interesting course.

    Course highlights:

    In this course a general overview of the field of linguistics is given. It is comprehensive, fairly easy to understand, and engaging.

    Be sure to attend and pay attention in lectures, as well as reading the textbook for supplemental information.

    Course Overview:

    Dr. HK is very thorough with her notes and presentations. As long as you can stay organized and study the given material, you will do well in this class.

    Course highlights:

    The material is the most interesting. This course is all about what makes up our language and how it is changing. If you are interested in the field of linguistics, this is the course for you to whet your appetite with.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

    Print out the notes beforehand so you can easily make your own notes as she goes over the information.
