    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Mowrey believes in grade inflation, and will mess up your GPA without second thought.

    Course highlights:

The book "When Bad Things Happen to Good People" is one I've reread and learned a lot from.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Do not miss any homework assignment, and keep them in a separate, safe place. She only grades homework twice per semester, but you still do it weekly.

    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The course itself was quite interesting, and I learned a lot about different cultures and their death practices as well as how to be sensitive to those close to me who may be experiencing the loss of a loved one, or even how to deal with the loss of a loved one myself. However, it was the professor's first semester teaching this class as a writing-intensive course, and it involved quite a bit of group work. For an online class, group work is not easy to coordinate. Requirements for the papers were not completely clear, either, so I spent most of the semester very confused.

    Course highlights:

My favorite part of the course was learning about other cultures and their funeral rituals. We covered cultures such as Native American customs (Navajo), some small African tribes, Mexican Day of the Dead, etc. We also examined controversy surrounding American funeral practices and why some people disagree with the method, and I found that very interesting.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do every single assignment/discussion posting, and participate in the projects. Not only is it important for your grade, but your group members are counting on you. Do the readings. Even though the tests are open book, they are long and they are timed, so if you didn't at least read the material, there is no way you will do well.
