Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Werner creates a desire for knowledge in her students through her clear passion for the subject. Introduction to Social Work welcomes students of all disciplines and opens their eyes to the realities of Social Work. Dr. Werner helps students understand the wide range of opportunity within this field while igniting a flame for advocacy.

    Course highlights:

I think the highlight of this course was the Food Insecurity Challenge. Students live off of the amount of money allotted to citizens receiving Food Stamps for one week. This experience creates a new mindset in students. We became less quick to judgment by understanding first hand, even if just for one week, how difficult so many have it.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Students have to go to class! Dr. Werner is strict on attendance, but class is not a drag. It is necessary to do all of the assigned homework. Be sure to study at least a week in advance for tests. A definite necessity is staying off of your phone during class, as Dr. Werner adds test questions that cannot help your grade every single time she sees someone's cell phone out.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Pay attention and participate in class. Take good notes and complete any assignments.
