Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I highly recommend this class, but mainly this professor, to anyone going into criminology/criminal justice. He explains everything thoroughly and is willing to help you understand if you do not. He actively gets the class to participate in class discussions and has media days in which you bring in your own article about something criminally related that has been in the news for extra credit. Professor Wilcox made me understand more about the legal system then I have in my other two classes. His tests are take home essays, in which it may be longer and have more requirements, but you're able to give your own opinion and knowledge about the questions he asked and will give you feedback about your opinion. I can never recommend a better class or a better professor. The book is not needed, but I do recommend buying it if you can. While the professor writes everything on the board, its nice to have the tiny details that sometimes he doesn't find important. So if you miss a class, you'd better hope you know someone that writes very good notes because we go through a chapter a day, if not two in notes.

    Course highlights:

The highlights were surprisngly the tests. Because they were take home and half page essays with single spacing, you had to know your stuff or else you would look dumb. But it gave us a chance to show what we had learned and give our own opinions on some of the laws and legal actions this country takes. You didn't have to stress about studying for the tests because it was just like having a discussion in class. Your opinion mattered to the professor and we took turns sharing what our opinions were in class. I learned everything from laws, to how the police work, how they can try to outsmart you, how our prisons and jails work, about how court rooms work and lawyers, and about different kind of violence.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't take this class if you aren't ready to take it seriously. The professor makes this class fun, but if you intend on skipping, napping, or not paying attention...just go ahead and keep scrolling when doing your schedule. If you happen to have to skip class, make friends with someone that takes good notes. I also highly recommend not only writing down everything that is on the board, but writing down key facts that the professor is talking about. It helps when it comes to the test.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this class to not only Criminal Justice Majors but to anyone looking to what the real criminal justice world is like.

    Course highlights:

I gained insight on how our justice system truly handles itself and the good and the bad it shares.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you remember the important parts when taking notes. Essays require that knowledge.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

The professor is phenomenal! Mr. Wilcox genuinely cares about his students learning, rather than simply memorizing material for a test.

    Course highlights:

I learned how real the world is through the lens of the criminal justice field. The human aspect is often lost, and is replaced by numbers and statistics. However this course focuses on the human variable and expands upon that.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

He offers extra credit opportunities. Take advantage of a few of those.
