    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It's required for music majors, so good luck. Study a lot.

    Course highlights:

I passed so I was able to go on to music theory two.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Make an outline for the exams and wrote down everything that could possibly be covered.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Good class if you have a bit of background in music theory already. Able to learn and apply new material to music playing, composing/arranging, even teaching, while solidifying basics. Prof. Root is very friendly and understanding; she expects that you spend the time to do the work, and as long you do it realizes itself in clear results. Very understanding and fair in grading, and is always willing to help out students in need of extra instruction.

    Course highlights:

Basic music notation, scales, chords, cadences, nonharmonic tones, voice leading, texture, form.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Spend the time to do the work and read the material, and you'll do fine no matter what. Ask questions and ask for help when you need it, which is anytime. (don't hesitate)
