This class was tough.
This was a labor-intensive course that included several different kinds of technical writing practice. However, the real learning was when Dr. Benninghoff dug deep into our minds to get us to think about what tech writing is and how to approach writing projects.
I learned that technical writing is not just regurgitating information into a form the intended audience can most ably make use of. Anyone can write steps to do something or explain a procedure to a layperson. I learned that a good technical writer reaches into the minds of his target audience to discover the needs they didn't even know they had, and then figures out how to meet those needs so that the writing becomes an answer to a question that was initially hidden from even the one asking it.

Do not take more than 12 credit hours when you take this course if you can help it. The assignments in this class take time outside of class and it will be very stressful for you if you don't have enough time to dedicate to the assignments.
