    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is for the curious (or English majors). Although I heard from others that it can be very challenging (and it was sometimes), Prof Mason made it so much fun with her energy and quirky attitude. She was always willing to help and provided many optional practice sheets which helped immensely. She is also very good at explaining the course material in new ways.

    Course highlights:

I learned some interesting facts about the history of the English language as well as gained immense appreciation for the different dialects of all languages. I am much less of a snob when it comes to certain dialects like AAV and am more easy going.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Take advantage of office hours and the practice worksheets she gives. Pay attention in class. Even though she basically goes over the chapters in class, still read them because it can be hard to retain the information if only exposed to once. Also, sometimes on the tests there are things from the book that she never went over in class so be prepared.
