    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Great professor. I learned a lot about literature and overall had a really good time. Assignments are not to impossible, but will definitely challenge you.

I enjoyed her literature choice quite a bit.

    Hours per week:

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This has so far been my favorite course at Hillsdale. Dr. Franklin fosters a great learning environment with lots of productive and enlightening class discussion.

    Course highlights:

Dr. Franklin was a fantastic, attentive, caring, and phenomenal teacher. Both my reading and writing improved greatly through taking this course.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Always read and come prepared for discussion. Do not take this class if you do not like classroom discussion.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Somerville is very entertaining, but he can't stay on topic for more than five minutes. He is reasonable about the reading load, and his tests are pretty fair, but I wasn't able to learn much because he spent all of his time talking about other interesting things - not the course material.

    Course highlights:

The best part of this course is the poetry and prose Dr. Somerville reads at the beginning of each class. I was turned on to a good number of modern writers.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to Dr. Somerville's office to discuss your papers. It will vastly improve your chances at getting a B (unless you're a genius, an A is out of the question).
