    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend taking this course with Professor Zand if possible. Although the material is tough and it is fast-paced, he is a very good professor who teaches the course well. It was challenging at times, but when the final exam came around I knew much more than I anticipated and did well in the class. Organic Chemistry is one of the tougher classes at Kettering, but if you put forth the effort it will be worth it.

    Course highlights:

This course helped me review topics from General Chemistry in the beginning, before diving into pure Organic. I learned about different mechanisms and how different reagents affect the starting molecules. This was a helpful class for someone who enjoys chemistry like I do.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Be sure to keep up with the reading and do the homework problems that are assigned for each day. The reading will help give you a background of the concepts before the lecture, which will make it easier to follow. The course moves quickly, so if you can get ahead by reading beforehand it will be beneficial. Also, ask questions in class. The professors are good at answering questions and making sure you understand.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Zand is extremely smart. I learned the material in this class more than any other class. However, it is also the hardest class I have ever taken. Zand wants you to succeed and if you show that your trying he will see that.

    Course highlights:

Learned so much about the subject, but there was lots and lots of practice problems and studying.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the practice problems he gives you, its the only way that you will learn the material.
